Types Of Affiliate Marketing - Which Is Your Favourite?

There are different types of affiliate marketing, so which is your favourite?

Pay Per Sale

In this type of affiliate marketing, the merchants pay the affiliate a commission when the visitors he has referred to buys something from the merchant's site. I would recommend newbies to begin their affiliate marketing with Pay Per Sale as Clickbank and CJ.com is easier to join and you can brush up your understanding of the affiliate marketing concepts as you work on it. Pay Per Sale commissions are often quite high as compared to PPC and PPL, and some are even residual!

Pay Per Click (PPC)

PPC is the most popular type of affiliate marketing for affiliates with small websites, and probably the easiest way for them to earn money. In this affiliate marketing type, the merchant pays his affiliate whenever a visitor is referred to his site, that is whenever someone clicks through the merchant's banner or text ads. This type of affiliate marketing is really straightforward and can be implemented straight away if you already have a blog or website. It may take some time to accumulate some earnings though, unless you have good traffic.

Pay Per Lead (PPL)

For this type of affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever the visitor he referred to the merchant's site fills up an application form or enters an email, thus generating a lead for the merchant. Compensation for this type of affiliate marketing is usually a fixed fee, and these lead campaigns are usually managed by individual affiliate networks, who will pay you on behalf of the merchants.

I started out with PPS affiliate marketing when I was a newbie and I have made a few checks from it. But this year, I will be switching more focus towards PPL. I think it is going to be the next biggest thing! (at least for me, LOL) Of course, I will continue to work on my PPS campaigns with free methods of affiliate marketing when I have the time.

So, have you even taken the first step yet?

5 Tried, Tested and Proven Ways to Make Money Online With Affiliate Marketing

These are the 5 various ways I have generated sales with affiliate marketing. You can give it a try too! It works!

1) By participating in forums

You can join forums of your particular interest, especially those which are closely related to your affiliate product niche. For example, you might be a travel enthusiast. You can share your experiences on the forum, and help fellow forum mates in their travel queries or plans. At the same time, if they are looking for items like luggage or travel accessories, you can "suggest" to them your affiliate links. Typically, if you have contributed fairly to the forum for quite some time, people will tend to trust your recommendations. This works in your favour and increases your sales conversions. Of course, do recommend items that are genuinely helpful to your forum mates.

Not all forums allow the posting of affiliate links though in their threads. Be discreet about it. Probably you can message a forum mate personally, or respond to their queries through email. Remember to read the terms and conditions of the forum, otherwise you may risk suspension of your membership.

2) By posting an affiliate link in your forum signature

If the forum allows the posting of affiliate links, you can increase your exposure by posting it as your signature too. So whenever you leave some comments or answer questions to threads, you will be leaving traces of the affiliate links, open for others to see.

3) Set up a blog or website and include affiliate links in it

Having a personal website is really useful for affiliate marketing, if it has at least some traffic. You can put banners at your homepage or affiliate text links in your posts.

Text links have shown greater sales conversion rates, never forget to include some of them whenever you post an article relevant to your affiliate product.

4) Set up a Google Adwords campaign

You can set up a Google Adwords campaign with keywords you have chosen that will point to your affiliate product website. I have personally generated 100% conversion sales with this method before. What I mean is, I observed only one click through on a certain day, and this click through to my affiliate product website brought me sales immediately. So technically, the product converted 100% on that particular day!

5) Set up an article marketing campaign

You can consider writing articles related to your affiliate niche product and have them submitted to article directories. If you chose a great title for your article, the article might end up being on the first page of Google search after a few days. Research for title keywords can be done via tools like Wordtracker and Google GTrends. If you have a winner title, your article would be highly read and the chances of people discovering your affiliate product would increase accordingly. And the best part is, article marketing is totally free!

These five methods of generating sales with affiliate marketing are all tested and tried by me. When I first started with affiliate marketing, I had my doubts too. But now I know it is not another scam. In fact, it is a great way of making money online. You can treat it as your personal business and work anytime you like, making money while you sleep! Doesn't that sound great?
